Sophie

Snorkeling Tour Guide

Sophie was born and raised in Arkansas where she attended the University of Arkansas. There she studied Studio Art with a focus in sculpture. After attending University she spent some traveling the world. She took the PADI Open Water Diver Course while visiting Thailand. From there she landed a job at Chena Hot Springs just north of Fairbanks, Alaska where she led sled dogs tours. That position was a mix of taking care of the sled dogs and provided tours to guests in the arctic conditions of central Alaska. She also led snowmachine tours during those cold winter months. Sophie spent nearly two years with Chena Hot Springs. Her next move was to Ketchikan in May of 2025 where she worked for Ketchikan Kayak Company. She led both sea kayaking and e-bike / hiking excursions in the world’s largest temperate forest, The Tongass National Forest. We are so happy to have Sophie change teams this year and join Snorkel Alaska! She’s like a fish in the water and is currently working with Fred towards her PADI Snorkeling Tour Guide Certification.
